Sunny Brook Caviary: Coronets & Silkies

A little about our caviary

We've had cavies many times in the past, but, this time we finally found the breed that we both love. Actually we both agree on Coronets- we love them. Kim loves the Silkies as well. We only have 4 holes for the cavies (which can technically fit 10 pigs), this way we can enjoy them as pets and breeders/show without feeling overwhelmed with our numbers like before. We can not increase our numbers since the cavies are in the house with us, in the basement, and they are a lot more work in the house! We feed Proform Rabbit feed, we feed lots of fresh veggies, alfalfa cubes and supplement Vitamin C by feeding lots of Parsley & Oranges. They also get a treat mix they love :- ) They are very spoiled, and a little overfed ;)

As of January 2010 we have decided to cut back on our cavy numbers. We are cutting back to just a pair of Silkies for now. We are keeping their 4 large cages for now, as we can always use them for the rabbits, but just keeping a pair of cavies.
